Mars Hill Drill Box

“Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious.” Acts 17:22

Click Draw a topic to get yours. Prep time starts the moment you draw, just like at a tournament.

How the event works

Mars Hill takes its name from Paul’s speech to the Athenians in Acts 17. You take a piece of culture (a film, a song, a book, a work of art, a talk), summarize it and its context, name the cultural issue it raises, and give a researched biblical response that points to Christ. Speak conversationally, and explain the Bible for listeners who don’t know it.

At a tournament you draw three topics from a single category, keep one, and hand the other two back. Prep starts when you draw the first topic. You get four minutes to prep and up to six to speak. During prep you may use only your own binder to write a single note card (4 by 6 inches or smaller), with no electronics and no shared binders. In the speech you may hold only that card and your topic. Going fifteen seconds or more over costs you a rank.
