About David Stanton

Hello, my name is David Stanton and I am the eighth of nine children. Growing up in a large family gave me the opportunity to observe and engage in debate from an early age—I attended my first tournament (watching debate) at just six years old. Fast forward ten years to having competed in every STOA form of debate and focusing on team policy. In 2025 my partner and I placed first at a tournament and advanced from the 61st seed to finish 19th at NITOC.

My primary strengths lie in research and negative preparation, including strategy development and brief writing.  Improving affirmative case construction and developing exceptional rhetorical analysis are my primary focus. I firmly believe that the key distinctions between a novice and a NITOC champion in team policy debate are persistent, dedicated effort and commitment to logical argumentation; these principles guide my approach in debate and personal growth.
