About Jeremiah
During his years in debate, Jeremiah developed a keen understanding of strategy and tactics, as well as how to communicate efficiently and effectively. While debate may seem highly subjective, Jeremiah has come to see every round as similar to a game of chess, where every round is winnable if you are able to stay two steps ahead of your opponents.
This mindset, as well as a brutally simple speaking style, allowed Jeremiah to win first place in Lincoln-Douglas Value debate at his first ever tournament competing in the category. His success did not end there, however, because he ended the season with another first place trophy-- This time at the end of the NCFCA National Championship. Jeremiah's 2023 season created some mind-boggling stats, including a 21-1 Affirmative record across the entire season, and a sweep of every single ballot in Nationals outrounds, with the exception of the final round.
Jeremiah's main strength as a debater was clearing away the smoke and mirrors so that he could show the judge how he won the arguments that really mattered. This is the mindset that he brings to coaching, where he teaches students how to control the shape of the round from the beginning, and how to communicate to the judges in the most effective (albeit not necessarily the most beautiful) way.
