About Mark Roose

Since he joined Stoa five years ago, Mark has developed an unparalleled understanding of debate research and strategy. He finished his senior year of debate as a NITOC Team Policy finalist with a pre-NITOC round win rate of 88% and more tournament wins than any other team. Mark believes that good debates ultimately stem from good character and will integrate his significant experience in training and leading others into coaching. Aside from his position as a co-founder of Nile Debate, Mark is also a co-founder and the current CEO of Keel and Roose Technologies, LLC., a NASA-affiliated technology startup. Mark is a fully licensed financial advisor, a certified cybersecurity analyst, and is working full time as a legal assistant at the Knicely Law firm, serving closely with lawyers who have represented clients in front of the Supreme Court. Mark has gone beyond Stoa and uses his skills in the real world, allowing him to impart wisdom and knowledge that lasts a lifetime.

Mark specializes in negative argument generation, strategy, and domination and has a proven track record for building impenetrable cases. In the 2023 NITOC, Mark swept every ballot of all four of his first four out-rounds, three of which were negative rounds. He topped it off with a 7-0 affirmative sweep in NITOC semis. In the 2022–2023 debate season, Mark and Jackson only had one single affirmative out-round loss.

Mark's grasp of effective communication and experience as an accomplished debater and entrepreneur have provided him with a unique perspective and skill set for training exceptional speakers and debaters and have enabled him to pursue his passion for training up the next generation to be effective ambassadors for Christ.
