Thaddeus's Private Coaching

Thaddeus is a fantastic coach. He not only understands how to debate at the highest level but also understands debate theory and how to apply it effectively in round. Thaddeus is also a fantastic speaking coach and has taught me so much about winning a round stylistically. I would absolutely recommend Thaddeus to anyone looking to succeed competitvely!

Thaddeus has always been willing to give back to team policy debate and its really exciting to see him join Nile! I remember him giving me loads of high quality feedback after judging or watching some of my rounds. Because of Thaddeus' feedback we made radical changes to our styles and cases during the year. He is very encouraging even in his criticism and pushes you to become a much better debater. Looking forward to seeing his legendary skills taught to the next generation of debaters!

The first time I really talked to Thad was when he offered me (a novice TP debater) some of his strategies and evidence on the biggest case that year. The next time I really talked to Thad, he just dumped an hours worth of advice on general neg advice and Stock Issues on me. Then, he came up to me after a round he watched and talked with me for over an hour about what was missing in our negative strategy. We ended up changing our speaker positions, and because of Thad our cohesion, competitiveness, and skill level soared. TLDR: Thad is not just an amazing friend and a good guy, he’s got the knowledge and experience to totally transform you and your partner into a top tier team. I recommend his coaching for anyone looking to up their game.

I’ve had many debate coaches and attended many debate camps during my time in STOA, yet Thaddeus’s advice has always been far more helpful. Over the past couple of years, Thaddeus has helped me with a plethora of debate topics; whether it be argument generation, speech style advice, or briefing, Thaddeus was the most helpful. One of his strengths is being able to explain complicated concepts in simple ways: he helped me understand long trains of logic and why a certain impact outweighs another. Another one of his strengths is catching on to a case quickly, and being able to explain simply why it’s a good or bad idea and how the judge pool will perceive it. He understands the judges very well, and knows which ideas to communicate and how.
P.S. He is REALLY good with any China cases; I ran a China case last year and he knew what types of phrases I should use, how to turn any disadvantages into advantages, and how to structure the 1AC and 2AC.
