About Jonathan Helton

Jonathan Helton is a policy analyst and debate coach. After graduating Freed-Hardeman University, he joined the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii, a think tank based in Honolulu. In this role, Jonathan primarily focuses on tax and land use policies. He has been published widely in Hawaii papers and has contributed to the passage of several major housing and property tax reforms.
Jonathan also coaches for his old debate club, Ambassadors for Christ, just outside of Nashville, Tennessee. He competed in Stoa for three years and spent his senior year at Ambassadors. In Stoa today, Jonathan may be more widely known as "the Jones Act guy" -- a title he has mixed feelings about, to be sure.
