Every debater starts out thinking that debate is an exercise in intellectual conflict. You make an argument, your opponent responds with a counter, and the judge accurately parses out who properly utilized logic or possessed the most credible evidence. If you’ve made it to my page, chances are you no longer have the delusion that debate is impartial. Judges are emotional, irrational beings who rarely decide with logic (alone). My name is Daniel Pate. I have over 6 years of experience in national and international debate, which has uniquely taught me how to successfully appeal to a wide range of judge pools and audiences. I want to offer you training in refutation that not only satisfies you, but also convinces people across the board. From granular analysis of evidence to large-scale narratives of debate rounds, I want to coach you to maintain that crucial connection with the judge.
