What a coaching session looks like:

Approximately 30 minutes pre-meeting in which Logan will review any game plan, documents, ballots, videos, ect, that are provided by the student. This will guide the targeted feedback and research during the 1 hour call.

A one hour video call in which Logan will give analysis of the student uploaded resources provided, answering and asking questions to improve the student’s skills. After the meeting, Logan will compose and send a short summary to the student detailing the questions discussed and answered with the next steps for the student to take.

In addition to the session, Logan will provide resources in the form of assorted debate shells, blocks, evidence, and much more.

About Logan:

Logan Kausrud competed in Stoa for 6 years in the events of LD, TP, Parli, Apol, Extemp, Impromptu, Mars Hill, O.O, and Duo. He lives by two mottos, which shape his coaching approach.

Motto #1: “Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard”.

Not the most naturally talented speaker, Logan achieved success through lots of hard work. He spent his first three years in debate in 3-3 purgatory. Then, in year four, he went 6-0 and won a large tournament for his first ever check. In his senior year, he and his partner, Natalie Reeder, put in countless hours of work. They won four tournaments and held first place in the nation January through May, finishing the year ranked second overall. In addition to his debate success, Logan also specialized in the Apologetics and Extemporaneous speech events. He placed highly because of his hard work and discipline, and Logan is excited to share his insights to those who want to challenge themselves and improve their skills.

Motto #2: (which is the most important) “Glorify God and edify others”.

Stoa has been such a transformative part of Logan’s life, teaching him perseverance, communication skills, and most importantly strengthening his faith. Stoa’s friendships and culture model the love of Christ, and that is the most important part about it. Logan wants to teach you how to win in speech and debate, but more importantly how to sharpen your faith and the faith of others.

Logan is so excited to share the valuable knowledge and insights that he has learned to equip the next generation of competitors to speak boldly for Christ.
